Electro-Absorption Modulator with Measured Voltage-Dependent Absorption Spectra
This demo illustrates the usage of measured absorption spectra with PhotonicsTLM module for accurate modeling of electro-absorption modulators. Such absorption spectra should be provided for several voltages, written as subsections into the single file. Absorption spectra for all intermediate carrier densities will be automatically reconstructed (using a linear interpolation) from the loaded data.

Optical Pulse Train Generation using Mach-Zehnder Modulator Cascades:
Distributed vs Lumped Waveguide Modeling
Illustrates a technique to generate an optical pulse train from a CW laser using a cascade of Mach-Zehnder modulators (MZMs). The modulators are driven by a set of voltages having a common frequency but differing amplitudes and phases. The lumped and distributed waveguide models are compared.

High-Speed Silicon Traveling-Wave Mach-Zehnder Modulator
Based on Carrier-Depletion Effect
This demo illustrates modeling of a standard high-speed silicon modulator. To support high modulation speeds, silicon modulators should be based on the fast carrier-depletion effect. However, the weakness of this effect requires usage of long (over 1 millimeter) waveguides, which requires to use traveling-wave electrodes. Look inside the galaxy "CarrierDepletionMZM.vtmg" to see how a long silicon waveguide driven by traveling-wave electrodes can be modeled using multi-section WaveguideModulator module.
