VPIphotonics – Access & Aggregation - PON

  • Bidirectional 10 Gb Ethernet PON

This demo illustrates the impact of Rayleigh and Brillouin back-scattering on the performance of a single-channel bi-directional 10 Gb Ethernet PON system.

  • Impact of Burst Mode in Extended WDM-TDM EPON

Extending PON reach requires to amplify both up-and downlink signals. In this example the WDM technique (2x3 lambda) is used to increase the number of users (3x128) and SOAs are placed in a so-called "extender" after the fiber trunk to amplify the up and downlink signals (2.5 and 10Gb/s ).

  • OFDM for Access Networks - Power and Bit Loading Optimization

This demo illustrates how electrical OFDM signals are generated and detected using the Coder_OFDM and Decoder_OFDM modules.

  • A Survivable AWG-based WDM-PON Architecture
    with Alternate-Path Protection Switching
    for Traffic Restoration

This demo illustrates modeling of a survivable WDM-PON with an alternate-path switching scheme based on employing bidirectional colorless Nx2 and 2xN arrayed waveguide gratings (AWGs).Using this scheme, the affected traffic can be restored promptly under fiber feeder and distribution link failures as well as the failure at the remote node, simultaneously.
