VPIphotonics announces the release of VPIlinkDesigner Version 4.3, a software tool for optical link engineering including equipment placement and configuration and a thorough system wide performance assessment.
It supports equipment configuration of complex networks including ROADMs and detailed performance calculation of true ring topologies.
Version 4.3 offers advances in simulation and design flow for flex-grid applications with high bit rate connectivity requests. Enhanced
simulation engine, design automation and performance support also for amplifier output power test, OADM express path constraint and different modes
of residual dispersion assessment. With the improved capabilities provided in version 4.3 VPIlinkDesigner simplifies and accelerates link engineering tasks.
Line Terminals – a new type of add/drop equipment to model transceiver aggregators (TPA) and to build CDC configurations through the use of Setup Node Equipment tool which automates wavelength allocation and add/drop equipment configuration.
Lightpath bandwidth and wavelength allocation – Enhanced Setup Node Equipment tool accounts for flex-grid and channel width which depends on modulation format. At allocating add/drop equipment the tool minimizes a spectrum utilized in a network being designed.
System throughput and frequency range – New parameters are displayed in Channel Assignment Summary
Equalization mode – enhanced power control mode in equipment types used to model WSS ROADM support for power spectral density and per slot equalization
Variable Noise Figure – Enhanced Raman optical amplifier model supports for Dependence of Noise Figure on Gain
OADM port width – new parameter of OADM controls the process of Add/Drop equipment configuration and excludes invalid OADM configuration for high bit rate channels
Negative margins highlighting – Enhanced visualization of system performance failure in Performance summary table
Design issues list – simplified navigation through equipment with constraint violations in Design Assistant
Feature editor – a new parameter editor simplifying definition of port specific parameters in optical equipment
