  • Nyquist Superchannel


    This demo shows a Nyquist superchannel [1] with subcarriers spacing equal to the symbol rate. The required spectral shaping of the subcarriers is achieved by a proper shaping of the driving signal of the optical modulator. The driver generates a sequence of electrical impulses that are filtered with the required impulse response. In this example the Raised-Cosine electrical filters with a varying roll-off are used. For zero roll-off the pulse shape is described by a sinc(x) fucntion, which leads to a signal without inter-symbol interference and whose spectral width is equal to the symbol rate. Polarization multiplexing can be used to double the bit rate of the superchannel.
